Evaluation:

This website has a simple and boring layout. The index page shows the principle's message and it does not attract much attention for viewers as many people would prefer looking at pictures in the index page instead of the principle's message. Contents of the website is sufficient, however, it lacks in the amount of pictures, where the images are mostly in small size. Some of the links are not in perfect order, for example,

When i was clicking the link "back to top", the page doesn't load and remains at the same point.

This banner of achievements is found in almost every page of the website. As it's over at the top of the page, it kind of take up much space. Perhaps, it can be put at the right side of the sites.

This two things are also found in almost all the pages of the website. When clicking on the events calendar, i thought there would be events being posted up in the calendar, however there wasn't. Also, the links can be put up together in the top of the page. This way, the page would not look so empty as the links and events calendar have took up two columns, and nothing could have been inserted at the side other than these two.

The navigations are not very organized, for example, the academic results for CCA, can be under the CCA instead. There could also be more sub-links.


How is does this apply to your website:
I think that images would help to capture more attract attention from the viewers. In addition, i have find out that color combination such as brightly colored backgrounds would be vital to appeal to the viewers.

Name of Website: Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road)

Evaluation:

This website has a good color combination. It uses black, a neutral color as a background, and makes the pictures and words stand out more than other schools' website. The contents contains information that are updated, unlike some of the others' school websites. There are a lot of pictures in the website which help to enhance the content. The fonts are easy to read and the color stands out prominently from the background layer.

There's a slide show animation at the banner which I find it really eye catching and attractive, It is a great way to get a visitors attention. As pictures tells a thousand words, the banner shows their school values and how it's expressed out with the student's expression. At the first look of the banner, it makes viewers excited how school life is like over there.

The links and navigation buttons are well organized and in perfect working order. The page is organized with drop down menus which would be easy for viewers to find any information about the school.

When introducing a CCA, the main page is filled regarding the choir. I particularly like how they organized their page, where announcements and relevant things going on about choir is being sub-linked instead of having it together with the main page.


How does this apply to your website:
As my target audience is primary 6 students finding a suitable secondary school, there is an emphasis to have pictures and animations to attract their attention. The fonts and size of wordings used are also important, where some important notices are to be made bigger and also in color depending on the background. In addition, I'll make the website more organized by using relevant sub links allows viewers to get to information easier and faster. Color combinations are also important, i will be using bright colors which attracts their attention.
